Colder Weather

Hi All,

Anyone that left their windows open last night knows that Fall is here and with it brings the changes in temperature.  As the colder weather ushers in, we want to discuss proper dress for colder weather.

Clinics - if sweatshirts/jackets needed, try and wear them under clinic shirts (may not be possible).  If wearing sweatpants, make sure the length isn't too long where it gets caught under cleats.  Sometimes an elastic band can help.  Gloves and soft hats to cover ears are acceptable.

In House - For practices, dress warm enough, if wearing sweatpants, make sure the length isn't too long where it gets caught under cleats.  Jeans shouldn't be worn.  Gloves and soft hats are acceptable for practices.

For games, the shirts have to be on the outside, so sweatshirts or under armour are acceptable underneath.  Players can bring jackets/blankets to the bench if they are subbing.   Again, no jeans and make sure sweatpants aren't below cleats so they don't trip.   Gloves are acceptable and soft hats or headbands/earbands.

Travel  - The rules for travel are a bit difficult and not all referees follow them, but if they do, then you have to abide.  The under garments (shirts or pants) are supposed to be the same color as the uniform and are supposed to be the same color for the whole team (meaning everyone wears black underarmour or sweatshirt, or everyone wears gold).  That being said, most sensible referees know the rules are meant for much higher levels and have nothing to do with safety or effect on game, and will allow the kids to stay warm regardless of colors.  Gloves are allowed, but they can't have any buckles or clasps.  Regular snow gloves will not give you the ability to do throw-ins, so they make special "Field Player" gloves you can buy.  Hats will not be permitted most of the time, but headbands / earbands will be.  Again, players can and should bring Jackets/blankets to benches for when they aren't on the field.

For those that don't know, we still have quite a stock of East Haven Youth Soccer Royal Blue Sweatshirts.  The cost is $25 and you can order on-line under registration on the www.ehys.org website.  They are ready for delivery now.

Adding Teams to SI App

If your child is on the team (you receive reminder notifications), then you will be able to add them to your SI App

Between seasons (Winter to Spring, Spring to Summer or Fall, etc) you will need to logoff of the App on the phone.  You can do this by clicking on More, scroll down and click on Log Out on the bottom.   If you don't do this, the new teams may not come up as options.

Click on My Teams

Move over to the toggles on the top of the screen (Icon for Edit)

Move the "toggle" for the teams you want to on (green)

The team will now show up on top.

Linking Schedules to Calendars

Hi All,

We receive many inquiries about practices/games.  The easiest way to have the information with you at all times is to link your calendars on your cell phone, tablet, and/or computer to your child's schedule(s).  Here are the directions.  Once your child is placed on a team, simply follow this and your calendar will be live and updated as our website is update.  It also includes field locations.  For our U8/U10, you can do it now for practices (U8 or U10 boys or girls) and once we place players on the team within the next week, you can add the team also.

Here are the directions that you have to do from your phone (you could do the same from your computer if you want it on your computer calendar also)

Click on team

If you need more than one team, choose multi-schedule, choose Spring 2016, and     click on all the teams you need, keep the default schedule type unless you need a different one.  Click Submit.

If you only have one team, choose division and team.  Then choose schedule.

Click options, calendar feed, and choose google (droids) or ical (iphones).  Now your calendar on your phone will keep the schedule, even as updates are made.

If you haven't done this - it is a must do!!!  For players with phones, have them do it also so everyone in the house knows their schedules at all times.
